I came to Kyron as I always did. Cloaked and under the blanket of nightfall. When I arrived however, I found him pensive, withdrawn and detached. Most of all, conflicted. I soon realized why.
When the news came of Appanius' death at his order, it was both a relief and somber news to him. When his soldier informed him that the sons, the eldest, and the young boy, were also murdered, a vile transformation occured. He gut his man there on the floor. Infanticide was not his intent. It was not his order. The lives of those innocents avenged in the death of their murderer.
I had left the room. Moving beyond his parlor and into the bed chamber, sequestering myself behind the rich tapestry hung from the ceiling. The departed would be given a pyre fitting them. Still, the weight of the news hung heavy.
When all was silent, he returned to me.

I am not sure what inspired me. Perhaps it was a bout of loneliness. But on kajuralia I decided to attempt to make peace with the General. I packed a basket of brunch, and brought with me a gift. Though his men rarely seem pleased to see me, they are accustomed to my presence. I was let into the towers, and knocked on the door of his chamber.
He was surly. His bellows of "Go AWAY!" unheeded, I merely knocked louder. When he finally threw open the door, there I stood. Like little red riding hood, yet not so little, nor innocent in my black cloak and basket of food.
Kyron does not like kajuralia. He's not a sporting kind of fellow, like most men. For this reason, I did not gainsay his insistance on remaining indoors. It would have been disappointing, were some poor stupid girl to throw flour on him, and suffer for his lack of humor for the holiday.
We remained indoors. We fought. We forgave.
Something is beginning to change. And I fear it more than I do him.

I don't remember much, and I suppose there is some mercy in that. In the days that have passed, I have sequestered the betrayal in a dark place, left to be dealt with when I am stronger. What chemical lucidity is afforded me by the caste of physicians has allowed me to sleep dreamlessly.
I vaguely remember seeking him out, and the look upon Appanius' faces just before everything darkened. When I awoke the first time, in a haze of discomfort, it was Kyron that greeted me, "Get used to your surroundings. You will remain here until I deem otherwise." Under normal circumstances being held prisoner in a man's boudoir would evoke my ire, but at present it has been something of a relief. His men patrol the grounds, undoubtedly to keep me in. Though in that respect they also keep others out.
I have fostered the rumors of my demise, at least until I am no longer incapacitated, lest there be a sudden push from the outside to finish the job. Still, the night prior, I had grown cage restless. One of Kyron's cloaks stolen, I snuck out of the tower and tested my strength for a walk. A short one at that. I found the Poet upon Hesius' fountain, and sat to rest myself while speaking. He was pleased to see me alive, and gave me a honeyed water to sip. I've yet to figure out the Magistrate, but he ticks to a very peculiar tock I believe.
There was a fellow that lingered in the shadows. I could not make out who he was in the darkness, but something of him struck me familiar. After a time I returned back to my lavish cell. With luck neither Appanius nor Kyron were aware of my disappearance, as brief as it was. The General has already threatened me once with restraints, and I fear my father's curse should he follow through.
